Other Works
Since 1991 I have written the music for the musicals of "De Notenbalk" elementary school in my hometown Harmelen.
These musicals, which are meant for children from 6-8 years of age, are distributed by "Het verkeerde beentje". On their website you will find a complete list and you can listen to several audiofragments. https://www.verkeerdebeentje.nl/

Based upon the music of `Een nacht in het enge bos` Kunstgebouw Rijswijk developed an art project for the first classes of the primary school.
Mariet Lems developed a new storyline and wrote 3 songtexts for newly composed songs.
The music is played by the ensemble Opus I under the direction of Erik Vermaak.

Vogels (birds) was commissioned by Kunstgebouw Rijswijk. My assignment was to make 3 compositions based upon, inspired by, sounds of birds. The composition process was filmed and put on DVD to inspire primary school children to make their own compositions using all kinds of sound sources. For the Bewicks Wren song I used the song that the Bewick wren sings. Part of it I used melodically (mostly transposed two octaves lower) and part of it I used for soundscapes. I owe many thanks to Mr. Satie for providing the inspiration for a comfortable bird’s nest.
