The story:
Eine Nacht im finsteren Wald (previously known as ‘Een nacht in het enge bos’ (Lost in the woods)) tells the story of the little boy Tom, who gets lost in the woods after a Sunday-afternoon walk with his family.
After an exciting and exhausting night – where he withnesses the dances of the fireflies and the trolls and escapes from the rider in the night - he falls asleep and is found back by his parents the next day.
Summary
The bass side of the accordion is frequently used.(always played by acc.4)
The harmonies are derived from its possibilities – and therefore it’s impossibilities .
Medieval modes are used quite a lot, thus giving the piece a modal character.
The story is told in 8 parts.
